A Splendid Friend Indeed

"What are you doing?  Are you reading?"

Invite your Little into a hobby of yours!  This book does a great job of hinting at the fact that kids love joining in with whatever activity you're working on.  I have a lot of hobbies, but I've been working on a painting for a friend lately, so that's what I let my son help with.  I set up a small piece of masonite on an easel, gave him a giant brush and some paint, and let him go after it.  Fun for all.  

"I wrote you a note.  I'll read it to you."

Make some special notes!  I printed out the phrase from the book, "You are my splendid friend!" on a few pieces of paper and let my son "illustrate" the notes.  We then chose some friends and family to send the notes to, and put them in the mail!
