"The bear went over the mountain, the bear went over the mountain, the bear went over the mountain to see what he could see."
Go on a sensory walk! I gave my son our old digital camera to use while we set out on a walk around our neighborhood so he could take pictures of what he saw. Because a lot of flowers were in bloom, we stopped to smell a few of those and "needed" to smell some cars, too. It was so windy that it was hard to notice many sounds, but we definitely heard some dogs barking and birds chirping, and a really loud car driving in the distance. As far as the sense of touch goes, I mainly focused on rough vs. smooth things. We felt the differences between rough and smooth tree bark, the difference between the sidewalk cement and the asphalt street, etc.

"The bear went over the mountain, the bear went over the mountain, the bear went over the mountain to taste what he could taste."
Taste Test! Since the only "sense" we didn't really experience on our walk was the sense of taste, I decided it would be fun for my son to sample some of the main "tastes" our tongues can sense. I set out a tray with a cookie for "sweet," some chips for "salty," a pinch of cocoa powder for "bitter," a pinch of black pepper for "spicy," and a squirt of lime juice for "sour." I also set out a "bland" tortilla for him to nibble on between the "tastes." Sweet won hands down!
