Kitten's First Full Moon

"It was Kitten's first full moon."

Make some "full moon" art!

Coffee filter moon - I gave my son a coffee filter and a gray washable marker.  After he scribbled a little on the filter, I gave him an eye dropper filled with water and let him dribble it on the filter, blurring the marker some.  While the filter was drying, he worked on painting his sky scene.  He used a Q-tip and white paint to make stars on a piece of black card stock.  When he was finished, I taped the moon onto the background.

"When she saw it, she thought, there's a little bowl of milk in the sky."

Milk bubble moon - I filled up a shallow bowl with milk, added a few drops of blue food coloring, and gave my son a straw.  He blew bubbles in the milk until they almost overflowed the bowl.  Then, I helped him place a large white card stock circle over the top of the bowl, and then lift it off again.  The pattern the bubbles make look like moon craters!  We made a couple of these, taped them back-to-back after they had dried, and hung the moon up with a piece of string.
