The Grandma Book

"All grandmas like to hear from you"

Make a cup phone!  My son helped me punch a small hole in the bottom of two plastic cups with a metal skewer.  We cut a length of yarn, threaded it through the two holes, and tied knots on the ends on the inside of the cups.  In order for the "phone" to work, the string has to be stretched taut between the cups.  Since my son is only two, this was a little hard for him!  At first, he didn't want to play with the phone, but after I cut the string a little shorter so we wouldn't have to stand so far apart, he thought it was fun!

"Some grandmas like to play bingo"

Play a game of BINGO!  Any kind of bingo game will work, but I put together a version of musical instrument bingo because my son is fascinated with different instruments.  I found a free version of the game to download, but I edited it to only include 15 out of the 25 instruments - the ones my son was familiar with.  I burned a cd of the audio files and made bingo cards with instrument clipart.  Since my son is only two, he didn't really get the concept of trying to get "four in a row," but he had a lot of fun recognizing the sounds of the musical instruments, finding their pictures on the card, and covering the squares with pennies.  Grandma (a proud music teacher) was even visiting and could play with us!
