"Oh, my, look at the sky! Thunder! Lightning! Mighty frightening!"
Have a sound effects rain storm! We've had some thunderstorms come through the past few days, but it was fun to create a storm of our own! I can remember using an old metal saw as a little girl to make a thunder sound, but you can get the same effect using a poster board. Hold the top edge and let the board dangle loosely. Then start wiggling it back and forth slowly, and then a bit faster - you've got thunder! My son made his thunder and lightning by drumming on his drum and a cookie sheet. Crazy loud, but exciting!
"Tight fit. Might split. Sorry, Mouse. Full house!"
How many can you squish in? We collected a bunch of my son's stuffed animals and then picked out some tight spaces to squeeze into like the doghouse in the book. My son pretended to be Rover and crawled in first, then I added an animal one at a time until he thought no more could fit! If you have a lot of Littles, you can play the game "Sardines" - or let a someone volunteer to be the skunk that chases all the other animals away!
