Make some sand lions! Draw a lion face (or other animal) with white craft glue on a piece of black card stock. My son is only two, so I did that part, but you could also print out a simple drawing of a lion on white card stock for your Littles to trace with glue, or just let them draw it on their own! Then sprinkle sand over all the wet glue. Shake off the extra sand and let the picture fully dry. We ended up doing several of these!
"Sandy's tail got longer until Gregory came to a purple jellyfish."
Go on a beach walk! Start off like the boy in the book by drawing an animal with a tail in the sand. Then, stretch that tail as you go on a walk to see what exciting things you can discover! If you don't have access to a beach, this can easily be done with sidewalk chalk around your neighborhood!
