"Olivia has a little brother named Ian.  He's always copying.  

Sometimes Ian just won't leave her along, so Olivia has to be firm."

Make a monster mask like the one in the book and pretend to be Olivia chasing Ian around!  After we made the monster mask, my son asked to make a pig mask, too - so of course we did!

tip::  I wore the monster mask while we were running around
because it was a little hard to see out of the eye holes

tip::  I put the pig mask on a stick so that it
wouldn't impede his vision while running around

But there is one painting Olivia just doesn't get.  
'I could do that in about five minutes,' she says to her mother."

Do some painting - Jackson Pollock style!  I spread out a tarp, gave my son a few color choices, demonstrated briefly how to drip the paint, and let nature take its course... 

tip::  use washable paints thinned out with water so that it
drips easily without much flinging necessary
